Fmr, 400 thousand euro fine by the Antitrust

Sting by the Antitrust on the publisher Fmr Art'è Spa, which will have to pay a fine of 400 thousand euros. The company, which had a turnover of 2009 million euros in 42, produces valuable books and art objects and markets them at home. With a little too casually, at least according to the Authority.

From November 2007 to today, Fmr has distributed a series of advertising messages on the internet, by telephone, by mail and in the press in which consumers were invited to request a free product. At the time of home delivery, however, the company's employees made it clear to customers that to receive the gift they would have to buy at least one other work.

Most of the time, particularly vulnerable subjects (the elderly, people in economic difficulty or with health problems) received this treatment, who were encouraged to make an immediate decision. The offer was presented as particularly convenient, limited in time and aimed only at a few selected consumers.

It was even made to believe that the works to be purchased represented a good investment, because in the future it would even be possible to resell them to art galleries. There was, of course, no truth to any of this. The scam had been going on for at least three years when the report from Federconsumatori to the Antitrust arrived. Now all that remains for the Fmr is to pay. (c.mu.)
