The mission of the International Monetary Fund in Italy will start next week. The technicians of the international institution based in Washington will land in Rome to start the enhanced monitoring of our country requested by the Berlusconi government during the last G20 meeting in Cannes.
The news was confirmed by an IMF spokesman. The purpose of the operation – as already explained by the Fund – is to verify the progress made by Italy on the road to fiscal consolidation and economic reforms, so as to contribute to restoring confidence on the markets.
