It is useless to hope for a recovery, given that not even stagnation will come to our rescue: 2012 and 2013 will both be years of recession for Italy. He is convinced of this International Monetary Fund, which in his last World Economic Outlook has given wide scissors to the growth forecasts of the whole world, naturally including our country.

According to economists of the international institution, our economy will contract by as much as 2,2% this year, 2 and a half points less than last September's estimates. In 2013, however, the GDP will drop by 0,3%. Global growth will be just 3,3% this year and 4% next, with a downward revision of 0,7 and 0,5 points respectively.

the eurozoneInstead, a 0,5% drop in GDP is expected in 2012, with a downward revision of 1,6%. Growth will instead return in 2013, but it will be just 0,8%.

“Even the growth of emerging countries and developing countries – reads the IMF document – ​​will slow down due to the worsening of the external economic environment and the weakening of internal demand”.
