IMF, two killjoy candidates for Lagarde

Christine Lagarde remains the favorite for the race for the seat of managing director of the International Monetary Fund. But two "spoiljoys" are getting in the way. In addition to Augustin Carstens, governor of the Mexican central bank, a possible candidate from emerging countries, Belgian Finance Minister Didier Reynders also stepped forward on Sunday. But Lagarde, head of the French finance ministry, still remains in pole position, after Wolfang Shauble and George Osborne, her German and British colleagues respectively, assured their support for the lady. Negotiations are underway after the Dominique Strauss-Khan scandal left the international body without top management.
