The sun finally shines in Emilia Romagna in the areas affected byflood, but the danger remains landslides and floods and the Civil Protection confirms thered alert also for tomorrow Monday 22 June. In Piedmont the flood of the Po is expected and the situation remains critical. The premier Giorgia Meloni she landed in Rimini from Japan and immediately left by helicopter to personally verify the situation in the area while waiting to meet the president of the Region Stefano Bonaccini, probably at the prefecture headquarters in Forlì. After the inspection, it is necessary to take stock of the situation in view of the Council of Ministers (Cdm) confirmed for Tuesday. The first accounts of the enormous damage that will need to be repaired are beginning to be made while the technicians are diverting the flow of water into the Emilia Romagna channel which normally carries water from the Po towards the countryside to irrigate them. Now instead, through a manual maneuver on the valves, we will try to give the opposite flow to the water to make it flow towards the sea.
Emilia Romagna flood: displaced people and damage
There are 26 displaced persons (10 fewer), of which 20.000 in the Ravenna area; 43 municipalities still involved in the floods and 305 active landslides. According to Coldiretti, 250 animals need to be saved, including cattle, sheep and pigs, while the fruit harvest is compromised for 4-5 years. According to Il Resto del Carlino, the number of victims has risen to 15.

"Traffic remains suspended between Faenza and Rimini, between Ferrara and Rimini, between Ravenna and Faenza via Granarolo, between Ravenna and Castel Bolognese via Lugo", informs Trenitalia. “For the High Speed and InterCity trains scheduled for the section concerned, it is not possible to guarantee the continuation of the journey. High Speed, InterCity and Regional trains suffer delays, route restrictions and cancellations”. “Due to the persistence of the critical weather conditions that are affecting the region, there are currently no forecasts on the restoration of railway traffic. It is possible to cancel or reschedule the trip”.
Emilia Romagna flood: Meloni sees Bonaccini
Giorgia Meloni left the G7 Hiroshima Japan as announced and landed in Rimini around 12. It immediately left by helicopter for an inspection of the areas affected by the Emilia Romagna flood.
