Hiring blocked, soaring unemployment: we are moving towards a lightening of the constraints on term contracts? It certainly seems so, also and above all due to the need to provide flexibility tools to those sectors, such as tourism and services, most affected by the economic crisis. For these reasons, the government is working to change the dignity decree. In practice, the mef and the Ministry of Labour they are considering eliminating some constraints and in particular those on the reasons for the renewals and extensions of fixed-term contracts.
It is not only the Lega and Forza Italia who are asking for it – also driven by pressure from Confindustria in this direction – but also the Democratic Party, therefore large sectors of the majority who support the Draghi government. The boost also comes in view of the fact that the 31 March the transitional and simplified regime will expire and from 1 April the barriers to renewals contracts introduced with the decree law 87.
So in which direction are we going? There are three possible hypotheses on the carpet: the first consists in the overcoming all legal causes introduced by the Conte1 government in July 2018. Collective bargaining would therefore intervene on the matter. The second hypothesis points instead to one extension to 30 June of the exceptions introduced, also lengthening the times of the CIA-Covid. Finally, the third hypothesis is of freeze the causes until the end of the year.
