The rating of most Italian insurance companies is at risk of downgrading due to pressures arising from the debt crisis, despite recent signs of stabilisation. This is what the US rating agency Fitch communicates: the outlook on the Italian insurance sector remains negative, explains the classification agency, as companies in the sector have a large number of Italian government bonds in their portfolios, with a total exposure of 230 billion euro, to which must be added another 90 billion of bonds of financial companies which are in turn exposed.
