Tax: incoming text messages on payments, refunds and deadlines

From today, the Revenue Agency will send a personalized message to users who have registered their number on Fisconline - Objective: to avoid that, for a simple distraction or forgetfulness, they may find themselves in the future with a more onerous account and a payment folder to pay .

Text messages from the tax authorities are arriving to inform citizens of payment requests, refunds and deadlines. From today, the Revenue Agency will send a personalized message to users who have registered their number on Fisconline to inform them that a communication sent by registered mail has not been delivered, or that the sums requested for reimbursement have been credited, or that there are a few days left when a payment is due.

It is possible to activate the service by accessing the reserved area of ​​Fisconline. After the letters for compliance, the Revenue also focuses on text messages to update taxpayers in a targeted manner on their tax position or on any payments due. Objective: to avoid that, due to a simple distraction or forgetfulness, they may find themselves in the future with a more onerous bill and a payment folder to settle.

The new service, at no cost to users, is immediately active for tax authorities authorized to use online services who, after reading the information, have provided their mobile phone number on Fisconline. Recognizing the messages of the Tax Authorities on the mobile phone display is simple. In fact, they will arrive with the sender's name in plain text: "Ag.Entrate".

A WARNING TO AVOID THE FOLDER

Citizens who owe Irpef sums to the tax authorities for income received in previous years (so-called "separate taxation" income), such as for example severance pay, pensions and arrears of salaries, and for whom they do not the payment request sent by the Revenue Agency by registered mail with return receipt has been delivered, they will receive a text message informing them of this circumstance.

Once the text message has been received, by quickly contacting the Agency's call centre, they will be able to obtain a copy of the communication and pay only the amount due, therefore without penalties and interest, within thirty days. Thanks to the timely text message from the Tax Authorities, they will thus ultimately avoid the debt being registered and transformed into a payment folder due to a simple mistake.

GREEN WAY TO REFUND, IN 160 CHARACTERS

“The Revenue Agency is disbursing its refund to the current account communicated. Check the effective credit shortly": this is how the tax authorities will inform citizens waiting to receive sums from the Agency that everything has gone well and therefore the amount is in payment.

Naturally, both users who have provided the coordinates for direct credit to the current account and those who have relied on the traditional method, which follows the path of cash collection at post offices, will be notified with the new method.

A short message in the name of transparency also for those who have delegated a Caf or an intermediary to make payments with F24 on their behalf: in this case, the message will serve to inform that the payment has been correctly received and recorded in the databases of the 'Agency.

INSTALLMENTS DUE, WATCH YOUR SMARTPHONE

For some types of obligations, from now on it will be easier to keep up with payments. This is the case of long-term lease contracts for buildings and capital goods, for which taxpayers can choose to pay the registration tax in a single solution or year by year. In the latter circumstance, the taxman's message will remind landlords of the imminent deadline.

In fact, when you opt for the payment of the tax year by year, you must then remember to pay the amount due within 30 days of the beginning of the new annuity. Installments with reminders also for payments due following communications of irregularities for individuals who highlight the presence of errors in the tax return (so-called 36 bis): in the event of an option for payment by installments, the text message will be sent to remind the taxpayer that the terms to pay the quarterly installment are about to expire.
