In the last 15 years, the State has accumulated credits equal to 545 billion, however only 5-6% of these are recoverable. This was communicated by the director general of the Revenue Agency Attilio Befera during a hearing to the Supervisory Commission on the tax registry, explaining that where it was possible, collection was made.

Many credits are not recoverable because they concern deceased people, bankruptcy situations or people with no property.

Befera then touched on the issue of spouses with different residences to save on registration tax and the Imu and spoke of the "pathology" of the system. “Where we find out, we intervene. In the past it was a rare case, now they are increasing for obvious reasons, it is a fiscal pathology that should be tackled upstream, to avoid tricks".
