Florence, Visco interrupted by student protests

“You call it growth, we call it exploitation. Outside Bank of Italy". This is what we read on a banner displayed by some students outside the great hall of the University of Florence, where a lectio magistralis by Ignazio Visco, head of the Bank of Italy, was scheduled for this afternoon.

The Governor's speech - who was talking about public accounts and spreads - was interrupted by the student collective, who directed shouts and protest choruses against the president of the Central Bank.

About thirty boys tried to break into the classroom where Visco was giving his speech. The Digos agents tried to stop them and the shoving began. The rector Alberto Tesi therefore decided to let the students enter for a few minutes, then the police officers proceeded to remove them. At that point Visco was able to speak again.
