UBI Banca brought together in Milan the main players of the financial and advisory industries and the new businesses that are contributing to change in the banking world by focusing on technological innovation. at the center ofmeeting organized in collaboration with Fintastico, the portal dedicated to information on what's new in the fintech galaxy, analysis of the evolution of service models, the effects of PSD2 regulation and the role of new players, potential competitors of more traditional banks.

The lender it works for grasp all the changes taking place in the financial system in order to provide the best answers to customer needs. For this reason, UBI Banca is consolidating its collaboration with the fintech ecosystem, developing a network of contacts with innovation accelerators, incubators and brokers at an international level. With the awareness that the future of the various institutions will also be linked to the technological choices they make, the Bank has invested 2016 million in technological innovation since 164, in addition to having allocated 13 million for investments in IT security in the four-year period 2016-2019 . Furthermore, the 2019/2020 Business Plan envisages spending of 240 million for the renewal of the branches, also considering the development of technologies.

“In recent years we have witnessed a regulatory and technological evolution that has allowed the entry of new players into the financial services industry. These are playing an increasingly decisive role in the evolution of the services offered and are also modifying the strategies of the more traditional players in the world of credit", he says Frederik Geertman, Deputy General Manager and Chief Commercial Officer of UBI Banca. “This doesn't always happen through competition. Collaborations established with new players in the financial system and the development of innovative service models can also bring advantages to customers, for example in terms of efficiency and transparency. Consequently, a banking group like UBI Banca is actively inserted in the international fintech ecosystem. All this also guarantees that we have a management with an eye to the future and used to dialogue with new partners to accelerate innovation in the bank”.

The meeting was attended by, among others, Carlo Panella, head of the Direct Banking and Digital Operations Division of illimity, Claudio Bombonato, Executive Director of Reply, Roberto Catanzaro, Head of Business Development NEXI and Nicolò Romani, Head of Digital Innovation SIA. Furthermore, the event was an opportunity to present some fintech startups that are protagonists of change: Domec, an Italian “collaborative fintech” specialized in innovative payments and loyalty; Raisin, the leading European fintech in deposits; Qonto, the number 1 neo-bank for businesses and professionals in Europe.
