Finmeccanica, UDC: "Tremonti must intervene to save its credibility"

Following the legal proceedings that involved the group's top management and the consequent stock market crash of the state-owned subsidiary, deputies Carra and Pezzotta presented a question to the Minister of Economy to ask him to "adopt initiatives to limit further damage to the image and negative economic effects on society”.

The government should intervene to protect the image and credibility of Finmeccanica and the related economic repercussions. This is the appeal addressed to Tremonti by deputies Enzo Carra and Savino Pezzotta. The two exponents of the UDC take their cue from the recent events involving the top management of the group, emphasizing that "the moral issue affecting the company raises questions about its future".

In the question to the Minister of the Economy, the stages of the investigations involving Finmeccanica are covered: the contracts obtained by Enav, the alleged money laundering activity for the acquisition of Digint by Gennaro Mokbel, then the investigations by two magistrates, that Naples and Bari, following the hypotheses of international corruption in the acquisition of military contracts in Latin America.

"The Finmeccanica company is 32% controlled by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and is the main investee company capable of investing in research, with which the Government is able to make foreign policy, as well as employing around 76 employees", they remark Carra and Pezzotta. The deputies therefore ask Tremonti "whether he deems it appropriate, taking into account the depreciation of the Finmeccanica share on the stock markets following the events mentioned, to adopt suitable initiatives aimed at limiting the damage to the image, credibility and negative economic effects for the investee Finmeccanica ”
