Finmeccanica: Pansa, the aerospace industry is a bet on the future

The aerospace industry in Italy has "a rosy future for technology and knowledge but certainly disastrous for the resources available". This is the thought that the managing director of Finmeccanica, Alessandro Pansa, expressed in L'Aquila on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Thales Alenia Space plant. This is a sector which represents "a bet on the future" and which, for this reason, "requires great integration between all the subjects in the field: Italian companies, the Italian Space Agency, research bodies".

"We have registered - Pansa said in his speech at the ribbon-cutting ceremony - in recent weeks a growing interest on the part of the government and we are happy about it, but this must be demonstrated in the facts and in the support for the industrial system which is avant-garde and which faces many challenges in terms of services, satellites and launchers". “The existence of the national high-tech industry – underlined Pansa – must be protected and defended. It is our bet on the future. The investment in the L'Aquila site highlights the importance of defending high-tech companies at a time when Italy has lost too many”. This plant, highlighted the CEO of Finmeccanica, "is a bet that Italy wants to play with its French partner, with whom we are linked and with whom we continue to link our destiny".

“We must all make sure, government, Parliament, companies, local authorities that the only competitive advantage that still remains in the western world develops, grows and is dispersed in streams and streams to become the substrate and root of our society. The defense of this world is the development of our knowledge”. Pansa then wanted to underline the extent of the investment, amounting to 42 million euros, for the construction of the new Thales Alenia Space plant, rebuilt in two years after being destroyed by the 2009 earthquake. “It is a huge investment, of extraordinary dimension that Finmeccanica has decided to build in L'Aquila, rather than what Guarguaglini wanted – Pansa pointed out – and to which full credit must be given”.
