Finmeccanica, Pansa: size and investments will grow

Finmeccanica will grow in the coming years, trying to increase the also the investments. The chief executive officer of the Treasury-controlled group said it, Alexander Pansa, in a hearing in the Chamber: “We expect our size to grow over the years – he said -. As for investments, which Finmeccanica makes in the order of one billion euro, we do not expect them to decrease. Indeed, they will also be able to grow”.

The manager underlined that the objective is “to make Finmeccanica an integrated group, with common and compatible technologies for all the activities that the group carries out: this applies to aeronautics, aerospace and defence. We believe that Finmeccanica cannot be a conglomerate: it cannot be a federation of companies, but a union of companies”.

On the other hand, according to Pansa there is also the risk that all the "sacrifices" made in recent years for the recovery of society will be "thwarted by the situation of ANSALDOBREDA. The risk of having to think about further operations of amputation or fragmentation of the group is a risk that one would run if AnsaldoBreda were not deconsolidated: the economic-financial situation is not compatible with that of a company listed on the market”.

Finally, regarding the creation of a Italian railway pole, Pansa says he has "nothing against it", but believes that it cannot be assigned to Finmeccanica, "for the simple reason that this initiative requires capital capacities, investments and economic-financial commitments that are far beyond the capabilities of Finmeccanica”.

A few minutes after the closing, the Finmeccanica share on the Stock Exchange is in the red by 0,4%.
