Finmeccanica is moving towards the "deconsolidation" of its energy and transport activities, to concentrate on other sectors: helicopters, security, aeronautics and defence, in which "there are evident and clear synergies". This was confirmed by the managing director of the group, Alessandro Pansa, during a hearing in the Productive Activities commission in the Chamber.
These synergies, underlined Pansa, do not exist "in the energy and transport sectors". For Ansaldo Sts, the manager explained, the ability to compete must be safeguarded, while for the "rolling stock construction activities characterized by the absence of economies of scale, the parcelling out of plants across the territory, it is not economically and financially sustainable ”.
Finmeccanica's decision to sell Ansaldo Energia and Ansaldo Sts aims to "ensure a prosperous future" for the two companies, while in the case of Ansaldo Breda it is to guarantee "its survival", concluded Pansa.
