Finmeccanica: Moretti, never thought of selling Westland

Westland is not for sale. “We had no requests. And even if we had had them, we would never have thought of selling them". With these peremptory and clear words theCEO of Finmeccanica Mauro Moretti closes every window to the hypotheses of sale of Westland to Boeing.

Moretti underlined that Westland, the UK division of the helicopter company AgustaWestland, represents “a core business where we believe we have the best products in the world, even if we don't have the largest company. We are also investing in the UK, we have done an enormous job. The company – explains Moretti – depended 100% on the defense budget, today the dependence is very low, at the level of 30%”.

“We have invested also bringing a large part of the civil helicopters: I don't understand why we should give up. If anything – relaunches the head of Finmeccanica – we have already made some proposals to the British Ministry of Defense to build future platforms that will keep the quality of the systems we make high and the image of the Westland brand high”.
