Finmeccanica: order of 100 million from Trenitalia for new Vivaltos

Trenitalia commissioned a Finmeccanica-AnsaldoBreda 70 new train carriages vivalto exercising an option relating to the previous contract signed in March 2010. The Trenitalia order concerns the construction of 56 intermediate and 14 semi-pilot bodies for a total value of 98 million euro. The former will be manufactured in the AnsaldoBreda plant in Reggio Calabria, while the latter in Pistoia.

This is therefore good news for the millions of commuters who travel with regional trains every day. The vivalto it is a double-decker vehicle and has 724 seats on two floors for a total capacity of over 1.500 passengers in its structure. The vehicle, accessible to disabled people, can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
