Finmeccanica: dispute closed between AnsaldoBreda and Belgian Railways

The Belgian Railways Nmbs/Sncb, AnsaldoBreda and its parent company Finmeccanica have reached an agreement on the dispute related to the V250 trains and the termination of the related contract. The agreement provides for the payment to the Belgian Railways of an amount equal to 2,5 million euros.

The story relates to the Fyra high-speed trains, built by AnsaldoBreda and suspended from service after a few weeks on the Brussels-Amsterdam line due to malfunctions in the presence of snow and frost.

The agreement - reads a note - was reached in consideration of the advantages expected by both parties in avoiding lengthy legal proceedings and allows AnsaldoBreda to concentrate its energies and financial resources on high-speed train projects with other customers , while Nmbs/Sncb will be able to close the case and concentrate fully on its commercial activities.

AnsaldoBreda will therefore be able to sell the trains to other customers and, with some customizations, to make them suitable for different requirements and needs.
