The Finmeccanica company has been awarded a contract worth over 160 million dollars (117 million euros) for the modernization of eight Lynx Mk21A helicopters of the naval aviation of the Brazilian Navy.

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica group company, has been awarded a contract for the modernization of eight Lynx Mk21A naval aviation helicopters of the Brazilian Navy.

The contract, worth over $160 million (€117 million), includes new engines, upgrades to navigation and mission avionics, as well as a comprehensive support and training package including a flight simulator.

Helicopter modification activities will begin in mid-2015, with first deliveries expected in late 2017 and concluding in early 2019.

The modernization program will allow the Brazilian Naval Aviation to improve its capabilities and operational effectiveness thanks to new systems, better performance and greater operational range.

By mid-morning, Finmeccanica's share on the Stock Exchange gained 0,57%, a 7,035 euro.
