Fincantieri returns to profit in 2016, dividing in 2018

Fincantieri closes the 2016 financial statements by returning toUseful for 14 million euros, against the loss of 289 million in 2015, while the result before charges and income extraneous to ordinary and non-recurring operations is 60 million (compared to the loss of 252 million the previous year). Ebitda is also positive again, at 267 million (-26 million in 2015), like Ebit which is equal to 157 million (-137 million in 2015).

As for the revenues, at 4,4 billion (compared to 4,1 billion in 2015), the driving force is represented by the cruise ship business which, alone, covers almost 50% of turnover (2,07 billion), despite the doubts raised by some analysts on the returns of this segment.

“The goals achieved – commented the CEO Giuseppe Bono – exceed the targets set for the year and allow us to confirm the medium-term objectives and the distribution of dividends starting from the 2017 profit".

I new orders they amounted to 6,5 billion compared to 10,8 billion in 2015, a decrease linked to seasonality. The main thrust will continue to come from the shipbuilding sector which, also in 2017, will be characterized by growth in volumes and an improvement in margins due to the production of cruise ships derived from prototypes and the guaranteed increase in the military.

As for the offshore sector, Fincantieri intends to proceed along the path indicated by Vard's industrial plan: rationalization of the production structure in Brazil and diversification of activities, already partially reconverted to the cruise business.
