Another step forward towards the naval pax between Italy and France which, in all probability, will be signed on September 27 at the Lyon summit between Gentiloni and Macron - We will go towards the merger of Fincantieri and Stx with Naval Group in a civil and military shipbuilding hub – Yesterday afternoon's meeting at the Treasury was “constructive” – Will Leonardo also enter?

Fincantieri-Stx: step forward, agreement in Lyon

Another step forward towards the naval pax between Italy and France with the creation of a large international hub of civil and military shipbuilding made up of Fincantieri, Stx (the company of the Saint Nazaire shipyards) and Naval Group.

Yesterday afternoon at the Treasury in Rome the Italian ministers Pier Carlo Padoan and Carlo Calenda and the French one Bruno Le Maire met and the meeting was defined by all as "constructive". In other words, the foundations have been laid for a major agreement that will most likely be signed on September 27 in the bilateral meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.

If the guidelines of the project are shared, many aspects still remain to be clarified both in relation to the type and modalities of the three-way merger and on governance, but it is presumable that the Italians of Fincantieri will be responsible for the management of the civil branch while the French will the leader of the naval vessel sector. The equity structures and balances also need to be clarified, but the path taken seems to be the right one. It remains to be seen whether Alessandro Profumo's Leonardo will enter the new hub, considering that the construction of military ships will be fundamental.
