Fincantieri, historic agreement in China

The agreement provides for the construction of two cruise ships, and an additional four as an option – The signing ceremony took place today in Beijing, on the sidelines of the 4th Italy-China Business Forum, in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella.

Fincantieri, historic agreement in China

(Teleborsa) – Fincantieri, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and Carnival Corporation & plc, have signed a binding Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the construction of two cruise ships, with an option for four more, which will be the first units of this kind ever made in China for the Chinese market.

The parties signed the MoA on behalf of joint venture between Fincantieri and CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co., Ltd (CCTD), the joint venture between Carnival Corporation and CSSC, and the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (SWS) shipyard.

The agreement, subject to certain conditions, has a worth approximately $1,5 billion for the first two vessels and updates the agreements announced on 23 September between the parties, CIC Capital, CCTD and SWS, aimed at the development and growth of the Chinese cruise industry.

To sign this historic MoA were the Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono, Michael Thamm, CEO of Carnival Asia and the Costa group, and Wu Qiang President of CSSC.
