The Cfo of Fincantieri Giuseppe Dado announced that the group aims to enter into contracts "by the end of 2015" for the construction of the 5 super-cruise ships envisaged by the agreement signed last March with Carnival.

Dado, during a conference call on the results as at 31 March, explained that the start of production of the first vessel is expected in 2017, that of the second vessel in 2019 and the others to follow. Dado also intends to finalize the joint venture with Carnival and CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation), the Chinese shipbuilding leader, for the construction of cruise ships built in China for the Chinese market.

According to market estimates a shop assistant for the five cruise ships covered by the agreement with Carnival it is worth approx 4 billion dollars. As Fincantieri's Chief Financial Officer pointed out, future orders will benefit from higher prices than recent quotations, with a positive impact for Fincantieri starting from 2017.

In the second half of 2015, Dado also reported, the design activities of the new units envisaged by the agreement just signed with the Navy will begin, which envisages the construction of seven units with a contractual value of approximately 3,5 billion, of which 2,3, XNUMX billion in Fincantieri's share.
