Fincantieri and CDP today signed two agreements in China, the first relating to the segments of merchant shipbuilding, the second aimed at promoting the internationalization of companies.

In detail, Fincantieri ha signed today, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giovanni Tra, an agreement with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) - the largest Chinese shipbuilding conglomerate - for the expansion of the already existing industrial cooperation between the two groups on merchant shipbuilding.

Based on what was disclosed by the company led by Giuseppe Bono, the agreement establishes that the parties discuss the possibility of expanding their current collaboration, which includes a joint venture dedicated to the first cruise ships ever built in China for the local market and other related activities, also to a number of research and development projects in multiple areas of shipbuilding, including: units for the oil & gas sector; cruise ferry; mega yachts; special vessels; steel infrastructure; systems, engineering and Navy procurementas well as cabins, interiors and the creation of a supply chain in the cruise industry. The scope of the agreement could be further extended if opportunities are identified."

The Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono commented: “This agreement is further recognition of our decision to access the great potential represented by China. By acting as a first mover in the shipbuilding industry, today we are able to create further opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises of our related industries, successfully consolidating relationships with the largest groups in the sector in the country, and at the same time continuing to do the same in the West , taking advantage of the boom in the cruise sector and maintaining the acquired leadership”.

Moving on Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the company led by Fabrizio Palermo has signed an agreement with Bank of China Limited (BoC), one of the main Chinese state-owned commercial banks aimed at encouraging active bilateral collaboration to support the internationalization of companies, with particular attention to those of medium-small size, also within the framework of the Chinese Government's "Belt and Road" initiative. The agreement establishes support for exports, financing of infrastructure and environmental sustainability projects, activities on capital markets and the sharing of experience and skills, for the purpose of greater knowledge of the respective operating models.

The agreement also establishes the identification of further areas of cooperation to guarantee access to credit and medium-long term financing of Italian exporting companies, also with possible issues in local currency in the so-called "Panda Bond" market ”.
