Fincantieri, tightrope debut at Piazza Affari

On its first day of listing, the stock saw little movement in Piazza Affari – the scarce presence of institutional investors (99,2 million) and the massive presence of retail investors (400,7 million) were decisive, which guarantees, at least for the moment , lower volatility.

Fincantieri, tightrope debut at Piazza Affari

It's a tightrope walker's debut Fincantieri at Piazza Affari. By mid-morning, the share of the shipbuilding company, which made its debut on the lists today, showed a fractional rise of 0,06%, to 0,7805 euro. The price is practically unchanged from that established for the IPO, which was 0,78 euro per share.

“There is one thing that no one has said – he commented Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri – we had the courage, the balls to bring an industrial company on the market for a capital increase. In the last year in Europe and in the current round of IPOs, only we have done it. From the beginning, we said to ourselves that this was a retail operation, since we already have an important fund as the majority shareholder”.

Indeed, it seems to hold the approach of the review of the offer which cut the securities offered to the market by a third (from 709,9 million to 450 million, for a counter value of 351 million). It is above all decisive the scarce presence of institutional investors (99,2 million) e the massive retail one (400,7 million), which guarantees, at least for the time being, less volatility. In fact, one hour after the start of trading, shares had been traded for just 10,5 million euros, against a capitalization of 1,3 billion.

Precisely in reference to the controversy over the lack of adhesion of institutional investors, Bono underlined that it was “difficult to say otherwise. I don't know if you read the newspapers, in any case they are all useless people who don't know what they are writing".
