Fincantieri, agreement with four Iranian companies

Fincantieri has signed a series of framework agreements with some "primary" Iranian companies, preparatory "to the pursuit of some contracts worth a few hundred million euros and to the potential development of joint activities". The company communicates it in a note, underlining that the agreements were signed on the occasion of the state visit to Italy by the president of the Islamic republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani.

“Once again – he says the CEO of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono – we have demonstrated our ability to attract the industrial interest of one of the countries with the greatest development potential in the world. The agreements signed today, which we have reached thanks to the company's presence in all sectors of shipbuilding and advanced manufacturing industry, will certainly constitute an added value of absolute importance to increase the global dimension and the export share of our group" .

In particular, the note explains, Fincantieri has reached a cooperation and development agreement with Azim Gostaresh Hormoz Shipbuilding Industry Co (AGH), a new Iranian shipbuilding complex strategically located in the Persian gulf within the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone. AGH is controlled by the Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex Company (ISOICO), which in turn belongs to the Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO), one of the largest Iranian companies active in the development and industrialization process of the Village.

The agreement provides for cooperation between the two companies both in the construction of new merchant ships and offshore units both in the field of naval repairs and conversions, as well as in the refitting of units already in operation. The two companies will shortly initiate the establishment of working groups dedicated to activities to establish synergistic cooperation and develop a solid commercial partnership in the area.

Fincantieri, through its subsidiary Isotta Fraschini Motori, has also signed two other agreements which will concern the naval propulsion sector and that of rail transport. Specifically, Isotta Fraschini Motori has signed an agreement with Arka Tejarat Qeshm (ATQ), one of the most solid Iranian trading companies, for the preparation of a joint proposal for the supply of 600 marine thrusters for smaller naval units intended for the Iranian Governmental User (IGU) and, in partnership with Titagarh FIREMA ADLER, a company active in the production of rolling stock, an agreement with Wagon Pars Co. (WPC), an Iranian company active in the construction of railway vehicles, for the preparation of a joint proposal for the supply of 70 shunting locomotive engines for the Iranian Railway (RAI).
