Fincantieri: agreement with Carnival for two cruise ships

Fincantieri will produce two new cruise ships for Carnival. This can be read in a note in which the group explains that the orders are on behalf of Carnival Cruise Lines and for the other brand of the group called Holland America Line. The two ships will be twins and will be named respectively 'Carnival Vista' e 'Koningsdam'.

The 'Carnival Vista' will be the number 26 ship in the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet and will enter service in the spring of 2018. The 'Carnival Vista' will have 133.500 gross tons and will be able to accommodate on board 3954 passengers. The 'Koningsdam', on the other hand, will be a little smaller, with a gross tonnage of 99.500 tons and a capacity of 2650 passengers. The Koningsdam will start sailing from autumn 2018.

Il CEO of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono he does not hide his satisfaction after the agreement for the construction of the two cruise ships: “Being chosen once again for such an important order – says Giuseppe Bono – is the best recognition of our abilities. This is in fact an extremely significant signal, especially if we consider the moment of evolution that shipbuilding is experiencing in the cruise sector, both in Europe and in Asia. Fincantieri – specifies Fincantieri's number 1 – can count on a solid and unrivaled order book in terms of product diversification and quality. This position has also been consolidated thanks to the relationship with Carnival, a partnership which has allowed the company to grow over the years and which today is strengthened with the recent agreement for the Chinese market and with orders like these, which we hope will be followed by more more".
