Fincantieri: 2 ships for Virgin Voyages

Fincantieri today delivered "Valiant Lady" and launched "Resilient Lady", the second and third of the four cruise ships commissioned by the company by Virgin Voyages, operator of the cruise sector and brand of Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group.

These are two ships which, like the sister ship "Scarlet Lady" delivered last year, have a gross tonnage of approximately 110 tons, a length of 278 meters and a width of 38, for a total of 1.400 cabins capable of accommodating 2.770 passengers and a crew of 1.160.

"The quality of life on board is guaranteed by the "comfort class" certification, which attests to the minimum perceived noise and vibration levels, and by extensive use of home automation, thanks to which guests are able to manage a wide range of functions of the cabin (air conditioning, lighting, opening and closing of the curtains, music and television) through an app to be installed on your smartphone", explains Fincantieri in a note, in which he also highlights the original design chosen for the boats and the use of alternatives that have been able to reduce the overall environmental impact. The ships are in fact equipped with an electricity production system of approximately 1 MW which uses the waste heat from diesel engines. In addition to a scrubber system for the disposal of sulfur oxides, a catalytic muffler capable of breaking down nitrogen oxides is also installed. The units are entirely equipped with LED lights to reduce energy consumption, while the hydrodynamic design of the hull ensures high performance, with consequent fuel savings.
