On the occasion of the Salone dello Sri, an event dedicated to socially responsible investing funds, the first Italian Sri Awards were assigned to five categories of funds distributed in Italy. The award recognizes the highest level achieved by the product by combination of the parameters of responsibility and performance.
Five categories of funds have been defined, and the best fund has been indicated for each:
– “Corporate bonds” category: Candriam Sustainable Euro Corporate Bonds
– “Government bonds” category: DPAM L Bonds Government Sustainable
– “Equity” category: Ethical Equity
– “Thematic” category: Mirova Europe Environmental Equity
– “Balanced and Flexible” category: Raiffeisen Balanced Sustainable
The SRI Awards are assigned on a quantitative basis, through the application of an evaluation matrix developed by ETicaNews on three macro areas: ESG ratings, risk and return performance, manager governance. The performances have been elaborated with the MoneyMate platform. ESG ratings were provided by MSCI.
The sample was built by integrating the funds from the Forum for Sustainable Finance database as at 30 September 2016, with the updates reported by the exhibitors of the SRI Show. In this basket, the active funds at the beginning of the evaluation period (three years) were then considered.
The result is an analyzed universe of 75 fund families, for over 160 products. Of these, 76 represent equity funds; 41 thematic funds; 11 the flexible and balanced; 26 corporate bonds and 14 government bonds.
