Finance and gender diversity, Unicredit restarts from women and from the UK

UniCredit restarts from women and from the United Kingdom. The banking group announced today, Wednesday, the signing of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter (the UK Treasury's Charter of Women's Principles) to ensure full support for the promotion of gender diversity in the financial services sector in the UK and globally. Numerous banking groups, investment funds, insurance groups from Deutsche Bank to BNP, from JP Morgan to Fidelity International UK, from Allianz to Axa have already adhered to the Charter.

It is therefore an important initiative that links the world of investments to compliance with certain parameters to ensure gender equality. Last but not least, introduced with the "30% Club" launched in the United Kingdom in 2010 with the aim of reaching a minimum of 30% of women on the Boards of Directors of the FTSE 100. Unicredit has already joined the Club in 2015 and 2017 , recalls a press release, launched its “Group-wide Diversity Development Plan, focusing on the development and support of diversity at all company levels, undertaking specific initiatives related to talent recruitment and search, professional development, remuneration, balance between private and professional life, information and training”. Other programs for better gender balance have been in place since 2008.

Adherence to the Charter refers precisely to that Plan; thanks to joining the initiative, "UniCredit – in line with the other signatories – is working on defining specific objectives aimed at maintaining gender balance within its structures and which will be presented next September".

“Diversity and gender equality – comments Jean Pierre Mustier, CEO of UniCredit – are key priorities for UniCredit and we are very proud of how our workforce is already made up. We are actively working to ensure that our working environment is built on respect and continuous learning, in line with our One Bank, One UniCredit culture and we aspire to become the best place to work in the European financial sector. To achieve this we know that continued investment is needed to further improve diversity and gender balance.”

In relation to monitoring, UniCredit carries out twice a year a comprehensive review of the presence of women in the different company levels in the context of the organizational hierarchy at Group level through the Gender Balance Dashboard.
