Loans for the first home for young people under 30: not even one request in 20 is accepted

24% of first home loan applications received on the mutui.it website are filled in by people under 30, but not even 5% of these are accepted. The average request is 150.000 euros, Trentino Alto Adige and Emilia-Romagna the Regions from which the most requests come

Not even 5% of mortgage applications requested by young people under 30 are granted: this is the dramatic statistic that emerged from an analysis carried out by the mutui.it portal studying loan applications for first home purchases completed in recent months. In other words: the global economic crisis weighs on everyone, but the situation and in particular the prospects for the youngest are worrying to say the least. According to the survey data, in fact, even if one estimate out of 4 is requested by under 30s, the difficulty comes when obtaining the loan: not even one request out of 20 is accepted

“24% of first home loan applications arriving on the site are filled in by people under 30 – explains Alberto Genovese CEO of Mutui.it. – This bears witness, on the one hand, to the interest of young people in buying a house (always proof of their economic independence) and, on the other, to their familiarity with the tools the internet offers for saving and investing in the best possible way. »

The reasons? The lack of stable employment contracts, the difficulty of finding a guarantor or a co-holder of the loan and the unavailability of a reliable credit profile.

In detail, the average request is €150.000, equal to 77% of the value of the property one would like to purchase; in 52% of cases the fixed rate is preferred, only in 25% the variable one. Finally, the under 30s, who are on average 27 years old at the time the estimate is compiled, would like their mortgage to last around 26 years.

There are no major regional differences. If the age of the applicant and the average duration of the loan are almost the same throughout Italy, the amounts that would like to receive change; the regions from which the largest applications come are Trentino Alto Adige (176.000 euros), Emilia Romagna (173.000 euros), Lazio and Veneto (168.000 euros). All regions where real estate costs are quite high.
