Fimer acquired the solar division of Asea Brown Boveri (Abb – Swiss-Swedish electrotechnical multinational operating in robotics, energy and automation - ). The Italian company based in Vimercate thus becomes the 4 ° producer in the world of inverters for renewable energy.

Acquisition of ABB's solar inverter business resulted in revenues of over 340 million dollars in 2019 and the company branch also involves the inclusion of over 800 employees distributed in 26 countries e 2 production sites, one in Italy in Terranuova Bracciolini (Tuscany) and the other in India in Bangalore, and a research and development center in Helsinki in Finland.

Thanks to this acquisition, Fimer not only strengthens its global presence but also its own production capacity and research and development for new products and solutions. Geographically, in addition to Latin America, where Fimer is already present, the company will now also operate in Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, in particular Japan, South Korea and Australia, the Middle East and North America.

Another factor of sustainable growth will be the development of technologies aimed at distributed solar power generation which will make it possible to connect renewable energy sources in a clean and reliable way with a positive impact on the entire value chain, from transmission to distribution systems.
