“The 2015 financial statements data presented to the FCA Board of Directors from a financial and economic point of view are certainly a positive element and perspective for the future of the Group and of the plants. The 2012 challenge of relaunching Fiat and Chrysler is now secured”. This was stated by the Fim Cisl National Secretary, Ferdinando Uliano.
“In Italy – he added – production has grown by 66% and in 2016, with Giulia and the Suv Levante, we will exceed the threshold of 1 million vehicles which will drag even the 2015 data further positively with +2850 new hires stabilized and downsizing of more than 2/3 of the redundancy fund. The main concern concerns the timing of productions. There is talk of a commitment to maintain the development of the new models shown in Detroit in 2014, and this is positive, but with a slightly longer timeline for 2020 rather than 2018. We are well aware that behind the development of a new model there is an increase in production and employment, necessary to achieve the goal of full employment and the depletion of the residual layoffs by 2018, and for this reason we have already requested and are planning a meeting in March with CEO Marchionne to obtain insurance from FCA”.
According to Uliano, “the new productions of Giulia and the next Alfa Romeo SUV will very likely completely absorb the CIG in Cassino and will also have an impact on employment growth. Surely the establishments that risk suffering from a slip of the times are in particular Pomigliano and Mirafiori. Certainly the market could surprise us as happened with the two models from Melfi, resulting in a surge in production and employment. The timing of the two models on these two plants, if closer to 2017/2018 or 2018/2020, is not indifferent to us. The meeting with the CEO of FCA will certainly focus on this very important aspect for us”.
