Philippines: Splash diversifies into high quality condiments

The Philippine food and personal care product manufacturer Splash has diversified into the distribution of high quality condiments from Australia to Thailand. Splash has in fact announced that its subsidiary, prime global, has signed an agreement to guarantee logistics services to two rapidly growing companies in food production: Master Chef Sea Salt from Australia and Royal Brands Fish Sauce from Thailand.

In an interview, Splash's executive vice president and chief financial officer, Veneranda Thomas he said the group will offer services to foreign brands to maximize its distribution network. The initial plan was to distribute the products locally, but now the plan would be to bring them to foreign markets through the same channels used for other products, such as those of the Barrio Fiesta brand, which is very strong in North America.

Meanwhile, the two foreign brands will increase the offer of Barrio Fiesta which offers successful products, such as 'bagoong', a traditional prawn paste. Splash entered the food business in 2011 when it acquired a majority stake in Barrio Fiesta Manufacturing. Controlled by the Hortaleza family, Splash aspires to become a major player in the food industry.
