Filarmonica Scala: 17 concerts in Europe, Unicredit sponsor

In 2018 the Filarmonica della Scala will hold 17 international concerts, from January to September, in three tours conducted by Riccardo Chailly, Christoph Eschenbach, Daniel Harding and Myung-whun Chung. The international tour of the Filarmonica della Scala is presented by UniCredit, which has supported the orchestra since 2000, and has been the main partner since 2003.

In recent years, reads a release released by the bank, the Filarmonica della Scala "has significantly increased its international program, celebrating its rich history with performances in the most famous concert halls and festivals around the world".

“The main element of the relationship between UniCredit and the Philharmonic – said Jean Pierre Mustier, CEO of UniCredit and President of the Filarmonica della Scala – is the fact that we share the same goal: to offer the musical experience to the communities we work for. Together, we bring classical music to an ever-widening and diverse audience, educate the next generation of listeners, and support projects that aim to promote a sense of community and well-being."

The programs scheduled for the 2018 international tour of the Scala Philharmonic are of different kinds. In January Chailly will conduct the orchestra in the first two concerts of the season in Europe with soloists Benjamin Grosvenor and Denis Matsuev taking turns at the piano. The tour will begin at the Barbican Center in London (January 24 – Grosvenor soloist); two dates will follow at the Vienna Musikverein (January 29 and 30 – soloist Matsuev) and concerts in Budapest (January 25, Béla Bartók National Concert Hall), Paris (January 26, Philharmonie), Luxembourg (January 27, Philharmonie) and Lucerne (March 21 , festivals).

On May 27, after their concert at La Scala, Daniel Harding and the Philharmonic will be in Istanbul to play Beethoven's Eroica and Prokofiev's Piano Concerto with the Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov.

Between the end of August and September, the Philharmonic will leave for a tour in Italy (Rimini, Turin, Merano, Verona) and in Europe (Ljubljana, Grafenegg, Gstaad, Wiesbaden) with two family orchestra conductors, Christoph Eschenbach and Myung- whun Chung, and established soloists such as Sol Gabetta, Vilde Frang, Jan Lisiecki, Seong-Jin Cho and soprano Olga Peretyatko.
