Fifa sanctions Real and Atletico Madrid: no transfer market until June 2017

After Barcelona, punished in the calendar year that has just ended, the other two big names in Spanish football also end up in the sights of the Fifa disciplinary commission, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. The two clubs in the capital were sanctioned for having violated the regulation on the transfer of players under the age of 18 and therefore, similarly to what happened to Barça which in fact was only able to field new signings Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal for a few days will be able to carry out incoming market transactions for the next two market windows (summer 2016 and winter 2017).

Fifa also announced that Atletico Madrid were fined 900 Swiss francs (820 euros), while Real Madrid were fined 360 (330 euros). Furthermore, the two companies were ordered to regularize the situations of all contractual minors within the next 90 days. However, Fifa itself has specified that the sanction does not apply to the current transfer window: in other words it means that if, as expressly requested by the new coach Zinedine Zidane, the two Juventus players Alvaro Morata and Paul Pogba become concrete objectives, the negotiation should be closed by the end of the month. In any case, a very unlikely scenario: Real will have nothing left to do but wait for the summer of 2017 to launch the assault on the two Juventus jewels.
