In Germany, the index calculated by the Gfk on the climate of confidence among German consumers dropped to 9,7 points, compared to the 10 expected by the consensus and the previous month. The slight decrease is linked to fears that the weakness of the global economy could also affect growth in Germany.
In France, on the other hand, the consumer confidence index was published, resulting in line with expectations at 98 points.
In Italy, data on retail sales for August were released by Istat, down by 0,1% against the estimated +0,2%.
