The investment for the cabling of the Bari town is financed with the PNRR funds of the "1 Giga Italy Plan". The FTTH infrastructure makes it possible to surf at up to 10 Gbps and access numerous digital services

Open Fiber, the company that deals with the construction of the FTTH fiber infrastructure controlled by Cassa depositi e prestiti (Cdp), has construction sites opened for the realization of its ultra-fast fiber a Bitritto, a municipality in the Bari metropolitan area.
The works in the Apulian town are planned by "Italy Plan at 1 Giga", as part of the Italian Strategy for Ultra-Broadband (BUL) financed with the funds of PNRR.

FTTH infrastructure that will allow surfing at 10 Gbps

The call provides for the connection of nearly a thousand civics distributed throughout the territory which correspond to over 2 real estate units where citizens, businesses, schools and public offices will be able to take advantage of an ultra-fast network. Thus, some areas not reached by at least one network capable of providing download connection speeds equal to or greater than 300 Mbit/s will be covered.
THEFTTH infrastructure (Fiber To The Home) will make it possible to improve the performance that facilitates the use of numerous services: from telemedicine to smart working, up to distance learning and daily use of the network for leisure and the use of content online in HD.

Cover 94% of Italian municipalities

Open Fiber was awarded overall 8 lots in the tender, for a total of 3.881 municipalities in 9 regions: Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Puglia, Sicily, Tuscany and Veneto. Expected high-speed coverage of 3,9 million civilians.
The company already has connected over 14,5 million real estate units in Italy to its new ultra-broadband network e aims to cover approximately 25 million real estate units, equal to 94% of Italian municipalities.
The overall plan, between private and public investment, goes further 15 billion euros.
To date, ultra-fast connectivity on the network created by Open Fiber is available in 225 cities and over 4200 small municipalities.
