Fiat and unions sign agreement: Fiom's signature is missing

After more than 10 days of close negotiation, the new contract of the Fiat Group, signed by the company with the unions, without Fiom. In fact, only the metalworkers' unions Fim, Uilm, Fismic, Ugl and Associazione Quadri e Capi took part.

The last hurdles on absenteeism and the 2012 bonus have been overcome, issues on which the greatest distances between the parties and the stiffening of Uilm had been recorded, the agreement has some innovations with respect to the Pomigliano scheme. According to this scheme, the principle of flexibility in working hours is envisaged with a limit of 120 hours of overtime (instead of the previous 40) and the enforceability clause, 18 shifts, the reduction of breaks from 40 to 30 minutes, with the payment of ten minutes worked more.

Among the novelties of the new contract signed today is the introduction of a sixth step of four-year seniority beyond the limit of five envisaged. An overtime surcharge of up to 60% of base pay, e an extraordinary bonus for 2012 to be paid in the same amount also to those who have suffered long periods of layoffs.

A sort of one-off payment, 480 euros, disappears, already in force in the majority of establishments and now spread over the monthly basic pay, which also due to the inclusion of other items, rises by 5%. While the annual basic salary remains unchanged. This is why in establishments such as the Fma in Avellino and Sata in Melfi, where the one-off fee was absent, a gross surcharge of around 300 euros was introduced.

The new rules will start from 1 January 2012 and will be valid for all the Italian plants of Fiat and Fiat Industrial, with around 86 employees. The new agreement was reached on the basis of the agreement dated 29 December 2010 for the new employment contract of the 4.600 employees of the Pomigliano plant, who have been re-hired by the Newco since January 2011.
