Fiat rejected by Court of Appeal of Rome. Lingotto's appeal has been rejected: there won't be any no suspension of the sentence which forced the company to reinstate 145 Fiom workers at the Pomigliano d'Arco plant.
The appeal therefore continues without any news compared to the verdict arrived on June 21st. In the first instance, the Court established that the workers had been discriminated against because they were members of the metalworkers' union affiliated with the CGIL. In addition to the reinstatement, 19 will also be entitled to a refund of 3.000 euros for the damages received.
"The Fiom workers must return to Pomigliano and the discrimination must be remedied - said the national secretary of the CGIL blue overalls, George Airaudo – We are already late and if Fiat does not let them return we will ask for the sentence to be enforced”.
In the appeal, the Ingot he had underlined that "beyond the complexity of the individual selection process, the execution of the order" would have caused "serious distortions in the current operating context of Fip".
According to the company, "any further hiring" would have involved "the simultaneous recourse to layoffs, if not to mobility procedures, for a number corresponding to that of new hires, probably including some of the 145".
