Fiat, Chrysler withdraw almost 800 SUVs due to ignition failure

Models affected by the recall are 2005 through 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokees and 2006 and 2007 Jeep Commander SUV models – 649.900 units are recalled in the US, 28.800 in Canada, 12.800 in Mexico and 100.800 outside the Americas.

During the Italian night, Chrysler announced that it will withdraw 792.300 SUVs from the market due to a fault in the ignition system.

In a note, the Chrysler-Fiat group specified that the defect affects older 4×4 models, but their exact number remains to be defined. Most of the affected vehicles are located in the United States.

The American subsidiary of Fiat has announced that the withdrawal is a precautionary measure and that at the moment no reports of any accident related to the problem in question have arrived at the Detroit house. 

Specifically, the models affected by the recall are the Jeep Grand Cherokee models manufactured from 2005 to 2007 and the Jeep Commander SUV models manufactured in 2006 and 2007.

There are 649.900 units recalled in the USA, 28.800 in Canada, 12.800 in Mexico and 100.800 outside the Americas.

At the opening of Piazza Affari, Fiat shares are down 0,4%, a 7,64 euro.
