Fiat-Chrysler: record sales for the Jeep brand in 2013, up 4%

In 2013 the Jeep brand, which belongs to Chrysler, the American manufacturer in which the Fiat group recently rose to 100%, recorded a record worldwide sales for the second year in a row at 731.565 units, equal to 4 % more than 2012.

"Jeep vehicles set a record even though we stayed out of the largest SUV segment globally for three quarters of the year," said Jeep chief Mike Manley. The Jeep Cherokee was in fact available for sale only from the end of October 2013.

Manley said he was "particularly satisfied with the performance of the Jeep Cherokee, which sold more than 25 units in the first two months at US dealerships". For this year, Manley predicts that "sales momentum will continue thanks to a range of efficient and successful SUVs and with the Cherokee arriving from Jeep dealers around the world".

In detail, Jeep sales rose last year by 3% in the US and by 26% in the Asia Pacific region (+29% in China). 2013 was the fourth year in a row that Jeep sales increased after +19% in 2012, +41% in 2011 and +24% in 2010.
