Fiat-Chrysler: the global union is born

The global network of European and American trade unions of all the production sites of the Fiat-Chrysler group is born. The first act of the new body will be a letter sent to Sergio Marchionne, managing director of the Turin and Detroit companies, but also president of Fiat Industrial, by union representatives to ask for recognition of the network.

The goal is a constant exchange of information, but also the definition of a common trade union strategy. The delegates of Fim, Fiom and Uilm are meeting these days at the International Oil Center in Turin with the unions of the Fiat and Chrysler plants of France, Germany, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Serbia and the USA. Absent, however, the representatives of South America and Canada. Present among others was Bob King, the president of the Uaw, the powerful American trade union, which through the Veba fund is a shareholder of Chrysler. Also representing the Uaw is Poalo Caucci, who has been appointed coordinator of the network.
