The CEO Luigi Ferraris announced it. The new company will take care of security in the stations, especially the smaller ones. Objective: to reduce the perception of fear of passengers. Meanwhile, the FS Group accelerates on the investment front

State Railways: FS Security is born to increase station security

THEAD del Gruppo state Railways, Luigi Ferraris, in an interview published in “Tempo”, announced the birth of FS Security, a company dedicated to insuring greater safety in all railway areas, in coordination with the Police.

The objectives of FS Security

Ferraris explained in detail the activities and main objectives of the newborn company. In FS Security they will be integrate the Corporate Protection structures so far divided into the two main operating companies, RFI and Trenitalia. Also expected a hiring plan about thousand people in the next three years.
Forces they will not be armed but they will represent a garrison of deterrence and prevention able to report any critical situations, carrying out integrated activities with Polfer.
Once fully operational, its range of action will be expanded also in the logistics sector becoming the service provider of the entire FS Group.
The goal, for FS, is to “Increase the security of Italian stations, especially the smaller ones, and reduce the perception of fear that is still felt by many passengers” explained Ferraris.
The project includes the construction of a National Control Room which will collect the information of all our cameras. The data will be processed in synergy with the police.

FS increases investments

Meanwhile, the FS Group accelerates on the front of investments: in 2022 RFI and Anas launched tenders for 25,5 billion and awarded contracts for 15 billion. For the renewable energy, after launching the tender to install the top 20 photovoltaic plants of self-production of electricity, is working to contract out another 40 on its own unused land. Ferraris reminded the need toself-production of energy for the consumption of the FS Italiane Group (goal to cover 40% by 2027) and the national objectives which require huge supplies of solar panels in the next few years.
As regards construction sites for new infrastructures, in particular those linked to the Pnrr, a goal has been set: to have construction sites open in the next two years for a value of 30 billion euros.
Also announced the collaboration with ENI for biofuel to be used as an alternative to diesel for the trains that travel the 5 thousand kilometers of non-electrified lines.
