The palm oil case has not in the least affected the accounts of Ferrero, the Italian group that produces, among other things, the famous Nutella. Indeed, the management of the Ferrero International holding company defined the 2015-16 financial year as "exceptional": it closed with a consolidated net profit of 793 million euros, up 54% from 514 million in the year to August 2015.

As emerges from the financial statements filed in Luxembourg by the holding company of the Alba group, Ebitda rose to 1,6 billion from 1,4 billion, equal to a margin of 15,2% from 14,6% and Ebit reached 1,1 billion from 1 billion. The financial result was affected by the currency trend and was negative by 137 million against -159 million in the previous year.

Sales totaled €10,3 billion, with an increase of 8,2% at current exchange rates and 11,3% at constant exchange rates. The group - underlines the documentation - has continued to invest to improve and expand the factories and plants. Investments totaled 631 million (from 646 million the previous year) and 552 million were concentrated in industrial and manufacturing investments mainly in Italy, Germany, Poland, China and India. Furthermore, in the first months of 2016-2017, "the group reported an increase in net sales, strengthening the brand's positioning".
