Ferrero buys US candy company

Ferrero buys Ferrara sweets, the third largest American sweets company, from the L Catterton fund.

Ferrero strengthens its presence in the United States and buys Ferrara sweets from the L Catterton fund, the third largest American sweets company, known for the gummy Trollis, the Brach's that are all the rage at Halloween and the Black Forest Organic fruit sweets. After the debut on the American market of Tic Tacs and Kinder Joys, the Italian giant scores another coup.

As part of the acquisition, Lazard acted as exclusive advisor to the Italian group.

"With this acquisition, we increase the offer - commented the chairman Giovanni Ferrero - we want to continue to grow Ferrara, investing in brands to support expansion plans, exploiting the US production plants and distribution centers and creating opportunities for its people to talent".

According to the note issued by the group, the headquarters of Ferrara will remain in Oakbrook Terrace in Illinois, and there are no plans to consolidate its plants (two in Illinois, two in Mexico) and distribution centers ( in Illinois and Texas).
