Ferrari: 3-phase plan to reopen without factory infections

To counter the coronavirus epidemic and prevent infections among its employees, Ferrari it launched a particularly articulated health protocol, which immediately met with the favor of the trade unions. In fact, the Maranello company will allow employees (and if desired also their families) to do blood tests to be able to rule out being infected before returning to work.

In addition, the staff will be equipped with app which will allow any symptoms of Covid-19 infection to be kept under control and movements to be tracked. In this way, if someone were infected, it would be possible to reconstruct the chain of people with whom he came into contact (a similar measure has already been taken in China and South Korea). Respect for individual privacy, the company assures, "will be guaranteed thanks to the management of the app external and unrelated to Ferrari".

Finally, if despite all the precautions some employees test positive for the coronavirus, Ferrari will guarantee them accommodation suitable for self-isolation, Complete with medical care and supplies of oxygen and medicines.

“This protocol – reads a joint statement by Marco Bentivogli and Giorgio Uriti, respectively general secretary and Emilian manager of the Fim Cisl – represents a sort of revolution, because it will contribute to changing the organization of work and, therefore, of production forever. This is a great challenge for which trade unions, companies and workers must arrive prepared. It is not excluded that the Ferrari health protocol could be soon taken as a model by other companies".

All the measures announced by Ferrari are part of the plan”Back on track” (“Back on track”), conceived thanks to the collaboration with a team of virologists – including Professor Roberto Burioni – and sponsored by the Emilia Romagna Region.

For the reopening of the Maranello and Modena offices, is currently scheduled for Tuesday 14 April, but it is probable that the deadline will be postponed by government order.
