"Better Renziano than son of a bitch". In a "cynical conversation" with Il Foglio, Vittorio Feltri, returned Wednesday at the helm of Libero where he replaced Maurizio Belpietro, announces the programmatic lines of his direction by immediately launching a broadside to the critics, in particular to the colleagues of the Fatto Quotidiano who had accused him of having approached the premier unlike Maurizio Belpietro who - according to many – he had proved too hostile to the constitutional reforms of the Renzi government.
“In the Fatto Quotidiano they write that I had lunch with Renzi – said Feltri -, someone I have never seen in my life. Before becoming someone's loyalist, you should have a minimum relationship with them. And then being in favor of institutional reforms, saying that I will vote yes in the referendum, it does not mean being Renzians. And in any case, Renziano is better than a son of a bitch ", commented the new director of the newspaper he founded in 2000.
"I was in contact with the Angeluccis, the publishers, since July - Feltri continues - to Angelucci, to his son, I said: 'I'm not coming to be Belpietro's butler (Maurizio, outgoing director, ed.) It's already difficult to write in the Journal that Berlusconi is doing nonsense (so to speak), let alone if I have to let another director influence me”, says Feltri. "I invented Belpietro," he says. As for Berlusconi, Feltri also distances himself from him: “I was on his side for many years, when he was lucid. Now he is only sincere when he lies. I'm not Berlusconi".
