Federcasse towards the split, Azzi towards his resignation

Federcasse, the association that brings together most of the Italian CCBs, is now on the verge of splitting: the assembly that was supposed to promote reconciliation between the central group and that of the Trentino people has clamorously failed, paving the way for the formation of two groups national, one led by Iccrea and the other by the Cassa Centrale – President Azzi said he was ready to resign by the end of December

Iccrea, which brings together the central nucleus of the Bccs of Federcasse and which is a candidate for national parent company of cooperative credit, and the Central Bank, promoted by the Bccs of Trentino and the Northeast, are now at the irreversible break - The Federcasse meeting of Friday sharpened the rift and the formation of two national groups of mutual banks now seems inevitable.

The last attempt at recomposition will be made in the meeting of 20 December but the hopes of success are reduced to a flicker, so much so that the long-term president of Federcasse, Alessandro Azzi, has said he is ready to resign by December in case of failure.

The Cassa Centrale, which has a less centralistic and bureaucratic conception than Federcasse, is also gathering increasing membership throughout the country to give life to the second national group of CCBs and has a good chance of reaching one billion in assets to give life to the operation.

The Supervision of the Bank of Italy has also taken note of this for some time, according to which a single group of CCBs would be more solid but only if it were also more things but, otherwise, the green light for the plurality of groups. As it seems by now in fact.
