FEDERCASSE IN CHAOS - 91 Bcc of the North East challenge the top management and prepare new group

FEDERCASSE EARTHQUAKE - 91 Bccs in the North East have launched an open challenge to the top management of Federcasse and are preparing a new group that represents a new model of cooperative credit - But the move by the North East is not the only novelty in the world of Bccs, among the which others, for now under wraps, are preparing even more innovative solutions

The Federcasse, the powerful but bureaucratic organization that brings together most of the CCBs in Italy, is now in the case. The North East takes the field and launches the challenge at the top of the organization represented by the Azzi presidency by proposing a new model of cooperative credit, capable of combining the autonomy and values of the CCBs with the needs of the market, and alternative, or at least complementary , to that studied by the national federation Federcasse.

This is the project built around Cassa Centrale by the mutual banks of Trentino, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, presented in Milan at the Italian Stock Exchange by the president of Cassa Centrale, Giorgio Fracalossi, by the acting vice president Carlo Antiga and by the general manager Mario Sartori.

The new model envisages the creation of a cooperative banking group with Cassa Centrale as parent company (and therefore an alternative to that of Federcasse, which sees Iccrea as the sole leader of the system) which, according to Sartori, will be able to join in the 'prudential' hypothesis 91 Bcc (out of a total of 371 in Italy), of which 32% from Trentino, 33% from Veneto and Friuli Venezia-Giulia and 35% from other regions or, in the so-called 'limit hypothesis', up to 150 banks (19% Trentino , 23% Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia and 58% other regions). In the prudential hypothesis and without considering the numbers of the parent company, we are talking about a system with 1.200 branches, 7.856 employees, almost 53 billion in deposits, 32 billion in loans, revenues at 1,3 billion and 53 million in profit.

The move by the North East is the signal that Federcasse, dominated for years by the immobilism that has induced several CCBs to leave its planet and become independent, is now in disarray. But that's not the only new element. Other CCBs, which for now are working under cover, are studying even more innovative projects than those of the East Bord on which they will raise the curtain after the summer.
